Without enough support this year, we have not been able to keep up with our monthly school budget. We currently owe our 30 staff members $50,000 for the months of December to April. We have raised $3,000 so far. Our monthly budget goes towards:
▪ 18 teachers from Pre-k to 11th grade
▪ 80 Gallons of Fuel
▪ 3 Kitchen Staff
▪ 2 Cleaning Staff
▪ 2 Substitute Teachers
▪ 2 Bus Drivers
▪ 1 Nurse
▪ 1 Security Guard
▪ 1 Mechanic
▪ 1 Teacher's Aid
4 Classrooms - $9,000: We have begun construction of 4 new classrooms using tuition fees that would traditionally go towards food.
1 Restroom - $10,000: Our school is in need of a restroom for students to relieve
themselves in a sanitary fashion. A restroom reservoir and foundation have been constructed, but construction was halted as we ran out of funds.
2 School Buses - $10,000 to $15,000: We are in need of two school buses to provide adequate transportation for students that are attending school from several different communities that are too far to walk.
1 Kitchen - $1,000: We are in need of a kitchen at the school to allow for faster and easier food preparation.
50 School Desks - $500: We are in need of 50 school desks as we add a new grade this year.
Nursing Supplies - $500: We are in need of supplies for our nurse to provide proper
first aid to sick or injured students. Food For the Poor has supplies available for us in Port-au-Prince, but the chaos in the capital has stopped us from getting them since November.
Since 2013, New Kiskeya Christian School has been playing an important role in addressing the significant educational and spiritual needs common to Haiti's rural population - providing its students with a higher quality, Christian education than what is locally available.
NKCS uses American teaching materials and employs local teachers fluent in English and taught in local American schools.
Coming from communities where the Voodoo religion is prevalent, NKCS students also benefit from learning Christian principles.
NKCS graduates will be able to seek better opportunities in Haiti and they will also become ambassadors for Christ wherever they go.
Your support will provide for school supplies, school furniture, maintenance and other vital school needs. We will receive the full amount of your donation through GivingFuel.com in partnership with Followers of Christ Ministries.
